Day 10: Reflecting on Achievements: Find 23 Victories from 2023
For day 10 of these 12 Days of Wellness, and as we approach the finale of 2023, I recommend reviewing your 2023 and celebrating the victories that shaped your year. Often, amidst the hustle, it's easy to overlook the small and significant accomplishments that contribute to our growth.
Take some time to reflect on 2023 and list at least 23 achievements from the past 12 months (just two per month – so this should not be difficult). And this is your reflection on what you achieved this past year. It is not a comparison to others.
Here are some ways you can recall and reflect on your year.
Review Your Calendar: Scroll through your calendar to see some of those events, milestones, and accomplishments you had. Your calendar is a diary of your accomplishments, from work achievements to personal celebrations.
Gratitude Journal Entries: Review those entries if you maintain a gratitude journal. The moments listed that were worthy of gratitude can remind you of your accomplishments.
Conversations with Loved Ones: Talk with friends and family. Often, others see our victories more clearly than we do. Their perspectives might unveil achievements you didn't consciously recognize.
Career Milestones: Reflect on your professional journey. Did you complete a significant project, receive recognition, or acquire a new skill? Your career achievements should be noticed.
Health and Wellness Achievements: Consider physical and mental well-being achievements. Did you start a fitness journey, manage stress better, or improve or maintain your health?
Learning and Personal Growth: Recall learning and personal development moments. Whether completing a course, acquiring a new hobby, or refining a skill, growth is an accomplishment.
Acts of Kindness: Celebrate instances where you impacted others' lives. Acts of kindness, big or small, contribute to your achievements.
Overcoming Challenges: Identify challenges you faced and conquered. Each hurdle is a testament to your resilience and strength.
Relationship Milestones: Acknowledge achievements in your relationships. Did you celebrate an anniversary, strengthen existing connections, form new bonds, or overcome obstacles with loved ones?
Financial Accomplishments: Recognize financial milestones, whether saving, investing, or achieving specific financial goals (including reducing debt).
Creativity and Hobbies: Did you have achievements in your creative pursuits and hobbies? Did you complete a project, showcase your work, or try something new?
Travel and Exploration: Relive travel experiences and adventures. Whether your journey was across the state or the globe, it has memories.
Acts of Self-Care: Celebrate moments where you prioritized self-care (even if it wasn’t as much as you wanted). Whether taking breaks, setting boundaries, or practicing mindfulness, these are achievements in your life.
Networking and Connections: Recognize achievements in networking and building connections. Did you expand your professional or personal network?
Environmental Contributions: Consider contributions to the environment. Did you adopt sustainable practices or engage in initiatives promoting eco-conscious living?
Celebrate Educational Milestones: Whether formal education or self-directed learning, acknowledge achievements in your educational pursuits.
Volunteer and Community Service: If you did volunteer work or community service (does court-ordered count?), those moments of contribution are noteworthy accomplishments.
Personal Projects: Reflect on personal projects or endeavors you initiated and completed. These showcase your initiative and dedication.
Celebrate Family Achievements: Include achievements within your family unit. From shared experiences to collaborative accomplishments, family moments matter.
Artistic Expressions: If you expressed yourself through art, writing, or any form of creativity, recognize the achievements in your artistic endeavors.
Digital Presence: Assess achievements in your online presence. Did you grow your social media, start a blog, or engage in meaningful online conversations?
Recognition and Awards: If you received any recognition, awards, or accolades, take a moment to celebrate these achievements.
Reflect on Personal Happiness: Consider moments where you felt genuinely happy and content. Personal happiness is an achievement.
Note that these 23 categories are suggestions – some overlap, and some may not apply. These are ideas to help you on your journey of reflection.
