Diet Trends, Food Fear, and Food Freedom
Diet trends come and go, but the confusion they leave behind sticks around. In this episode, we break down the most common diet trends and the categories they fall into, from low-carb to high-protein to intermittent fasting. These patterns aren’t new, and many of them are just repackaged versions of the same old concepts. What has changed is how they are marketed and the pressure they put on people to believe there’s only one “right” way to eat.
Then the conversation turns to food fear: the idea that certain foods should be avoided at all costs. From soda to red meat, carbs, fats, and even fruits and vegetables, nearly every food has been demonized at some point. However, the truth is that most foods are safe and can be incorporated into a balanced eating pattern. Instead of fearing food, the focus should be on consistency, balance, and overall lifestyle.
This episode wraps up with a reminder that food doesn’t need labels. Eating should not come with guilt, shame, or fear. The goal is to move past the extremes, stop beating ourselves up over “bad” foods, and focus on patterns that support health for the long run.
